Why coaching

Your training should fit more than a template.

You are already putting in the work. The difficult part is knowing whether you are doing the right work at the right time.

When every week is built in isolation, progress becomes difficult to judge. Sessions get missed, intensity drifts and confidence disappears.

Coaching gives you a clear direction, someone reviewing how you are responding and a plan that changes when your circumstances do.

The Run Theory standard

One coaching standard. Built around the athlete.

Every Run Theory athlete receives coaching built around the same principles: purposeful training, clear communication, consistent review and decisions based on the athlete in front of us.

Individual planning

Training is built around your goal, experience, available time and current fitness.

Purpose behind every session

You know what each session is designed to develop and how it supports the wider plan.

Consistent review

Training, recovery and athlete feedback guide the next decision.

Training that adapts

The plan changes when performance, work, family, illness or life requires it.

Australian Athletics Advanced Running Coach accreditation
Our minimum standard

Every coach here is accredited.

Every Run Theory coach holds an Australian Athletics coaching accreditation. It is not optional, it is the baseline we hold every coach to, in line with the national standard for coaching quality.

The coaching team

The right coach for your goal.

Every Run Theory coach holds an Australian Athletics coaching accreditation, our minimum standard. Beyond that shared baseline, each coach brings their own experience and areas of focus. Tell us what you are training for and we will help match you with the coach best suited to support it.

Questions

Before you talk to a coach.

Do I need to be fast?

No. Coaching is for athletes with a goal and a willingness to train consistently, regardless of their current pace.

Is coaching available online?

Yes. Training is delivered through TrainingPeaks, with coaching catch-ups conducted by video. Rockhampton athletes can meet in person.

What happens when work, illness or family disrupts training?

That is when individual coaching matters. The plan is adjusted around what is happening rather than forcing you to catch up missed work.

Will every session be analysed?

Key sessions, overall consistency and athlete feedback are reviewed. The objective is to make the decisions that most affect your progress.

Can you treat an injury?

No. Coaching can account for advice from your treating health professional, but medical diagnosis and injury treatment remain outside the coaching scope.

Your next race deserves more than guesswork.
